Aaron Harkin, friend of Ashbourne Lions Club, was invited to our May monthly meeting. He was presented with a certificate of appreciation for his help at the St Patrick's Day Parade, by our President John Baitson. Aaron then addressed the Club's monthly meeting.
Thanks a million Aaron for your help on St Patrick's Day, and really well done on your speech to the Club Meeting. You were brilliant and everyone loved the speech.
Thank you so much.

JOHNNY LOGAN JOINS ASHBOURNE & DISTRICT LIONS CLUB ON A BUSY FRIDAY !
Busy morning for Ashbourne Lions. We launched our Coast 2 Coast Charity cycle with Johnny Logan. We also supported the campaign for Domestic Abuse Awareness GO PURPLE DAY and we handed over a cheque for €3,500 to Ashbourne Youth Centre.
BOUNCERS - AN OUTSTANDING SUCCESS.
THANK YOU ASHBOURNE
BOUNCERS played to a full house on Friday and Saturday 21st/22nd April at the Ashbourne House Hotel. Directed by Gerry Herbert and a fabulous cast of Dermot Lambe, PJ Moran, Mark Yeates and Nick Storey. The play is a hilarious take on the "nightclub scene " of the 80's and 90's. The audience joined the cast on a chaotic night out with lots of humour , "social comment "and a visit to some dark places. A spontaneous standing ovation on Saturday night rounded out a unique event for Ashbourne Lions Club. We also managed to raise significant funds for ASHBOURNE YOUTH CAFE and CHILDHOOD CANCER IRELAND. Thank you to everyone who bought tickets, attended the play or made a donation and to all LIONS who helped on Friday and Saturday. Finally a massive thank you to our sponsors PRIMELINE and BMCI INSURANCE BROKERS

It’s Friday night, the weekend’s here and the party’s about to begin.Time for dancing, drinking and the search for true love. The club’s getting hot but out in the cold the Bouncers are ready for anything.Meet Ralph, Judd, Les and Lucky Eric as they relive a night in a Dublin disco in the 80s in an outrageous celebration of the nightclub scene. It’s a screamingly funny ride through one of those nights as all the gang are out on the town – the boys, the girls, the cheesy DJ, the fish and chip van and the taxi home. All under the watchful eyes of the Bouncers…

On Saturday 19th November Lions Club Members and Friends gathered to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Lions in Ashbourne. The four Charter members, Tadg Riordan, Sean McNally, Tom Keenan and Rory McGuire were presented with individual Melvin Jones Fellowship Awards to mark there 30 years of service.
Lions Clubs world-wide recognize outstanding individuals by bestowing on them an award that is named after it's founder Melvin Jones. This award is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism.

PHIL COULTER UPDATE
A Message from Ashbourne Lions Club:
Following recent Government guidelines and in consultation with The Pillo Hotel and Phil Coulter, it is with great regret that we have to announce the postponement of the upcoming Clann Ceoil Charity concert.
We understand that you have been looking forward to what would have been an amazing night. Similarly our charity partners and beneficiaries are equally disappointed.
However, we must follow Government guidelines and keep the safety of all our patrons, supporters and volunteers to the fore.
We remain in contact with Phil Coulter to identify the earliest possible date to hold the concert and we will share the date as soon as it is confirmed.
As a group we are so disappointed and would like to thank each and every one of you for your incredible patience and support thus far.
For now, we would like to wish you a Very Happy Christmas and a Healthy and Peaceful New Year.

It is with great sadness that we received the news of the passing of Nicky Lynch.
Nicky was great company on the Coast-to-Coast. He loved the challenge, the craic, the music in Athlone and especially the dancing. The Ashbourne and District Lions club wishes to express sincere condolences to the Lynch family.
