The Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest was recently launched, and young people – ages 11,12 and 13 years old –are encouraged to express their visions of peace through art. The local Ashbourne and District Lions club proudly sponsor the contest in local schools and we were delighted to have received a wonderful art work submitted by students from Ms McGriffin and Ms Jenkinson’s 6th classes in St Declan’s National School.
The participants use a variety of mediums, including charcoal, crayon, pencil and paint, to express a different theme about peace each year. The works vary greatly and reflect the young artists’ life experiences and culture.
Global Contest
This is a global contest and Judges from the art, media, youth development and humanitarian communities select 24 international finalists representing the more than 350,000 children who participate annually. Posters are shared globally
via the Internet, social media, news outlets and traveling exhibits.
This international Peace Poster contest is all about participation, encouragement and enabling children to express their talents and creativity through art. The Lions Club would like to thank St Declan’s National School for participating in this contest and we wish them all the very best of luck with their excellent entries.
